Frankfurt, June 22 (BridgeNews) - Business sentiment in the western
German manufacturing, trade and construction industries slumped again
below analysts' expectations to a seasonally adjusted index reading of
90.9 points in May compared with 92.5 in April, according to the data
provided by the Ifo economic institute Friday. While all components of
western German index declined compared to April, eastern German sentiment
showed considerable improvement.
A Bridge News/Focus Deutschland survey of economists saw forecast the
May Ifo western German business climate index at 91.9.
The western German business expectations index fell to 95.0 in May
from 96.6 in April, while the business evaluation index dropped to 86.9
from 88.4 in April, Ifo said.
The eastern German May business climate index rose to 104.7 compared
to 102.8 in April.
