20 June 2001, 16:54 US FX Daily Outlook: Euro sinks further, yen also weakens
By Jim Cote
New York, June 20 (BridgeNews) - The euro extended its losses to a
six-day low of 85.12 cents to the dollar on continued signs of economic
weakness, while the yen gave back its Tuesday gains. Rumors, later denied,
that Bank of Japan governor Masaru Hayami had resigned livened up an
otherwise extremely dull European morning session.

Dollar/Swiss Franc rose within Tuesday's range while sterling fell to
a six-day low of 1.3923. Meanwhile dollar/Canada advanced to a 15-day high
of 1.5375.
Wednesday's domestic economic agenda is dominated by speeches from Fed
Chairman Alan Greenspan and Fed Gov. Edward Gramlich. Also on the agenda
is the release of the May leading economic indicators.
The intraday outlook for the dollar is bullish until proven otherwise
in confirmation of the long-term trend.
