19 June 2001, 10:42  Japan stocks close 1.0% lower in volatile trading

Tokyo, June 19 (BridgeNews) - Japanese shares ended lower in volatile trading, as profit-taking and future-led selling emerged later in the day reversing earlier gains it the wake of better-than-expected results from Oracle Corp. (ORCL). The downward pressure was also encouraged by a market rumor that financially struggling Mycal Corp. (JP;8269) is on the verge of bankruptcy, brokerage traders said. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 1.0%, or 123.53 points, to 12,574.26.
