New York, June 18 (BridgeNews) - The Nasdaq closed below the psychologically important 2000 level Monday for the first time since April 17, as investors worried that it may take longer than expected for corporate profits to recover. The Dow industrials posted modest gains, however, after a 3-day slide. The Nasdaq closed down 39.79, or 1.96%, to 1988.64. The Dow closed up 21.74, or 0.20%, to 10,645.38.
