FRANKFURT (AFX) - Bundesbank president Ernst Welteke said European Central Bank president Wim Duisenberg has the full support of all the members of the ECB's governing council.
"In my opinion there is no better president. I value his monetary policy experience, calm, balance and openness", Welteke told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. His comments follow remarks by finance minister Hans Eichel, who said speculation about Duisenberg's future amongst finance ministers was harming the euro.
