Chicago, May 31 (BridgeNews) - The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago said its national activity index fell in April to -1.09 from a revised March level of -0.87. The monthly index, a weighted average of 85 indicators of national economic activity, is constructed to have an average of zero and a standard deviation of 1.00. The index set a new low for the current period of economic slowing. The three-month moving average stood at -0.96, versus -0.94 in March.
