31 May 2001, 13:48 Bank of Italy's Fazio says tax burden may fall by 5 pct pts in 2002-2006
ROME (AFX) - Bank of Italy governor Antonio Fazio said control of
public spending should enable the government to cut the tax burden by 1
percentage point a year over a five-year period running from 2002.
In a speech at the bank's general annual meeting, Fazio said he
expects the U.S. economy to start recovering in the second half of the
year and to strengthen in 2002.
