ROME (AFX) - Outgoing Treasury Minister Vincenzo Visco said the target of a 2001 budget deficit of 1.0 pct of GDP can be met, barring any problems stemming from spending by regional governments or "a lack of attention" by central government. The comments come after Bank of Italy governor Antonio Fazio forecast a public deficit of more than 1.0 pct this year.
