Paris, May 31(BridgeNews) - France's unemployment rate based on International Labor Organization definitions remained unchanged in April at 8.7% of the workforce, the French Labor Ministry said Thursday. Economists had forecast that 14,000 people would leave the ranks of the unemployed bringing the level down to 8.6% .
* * * Based on ILO definitions, which omit persons who worked at all during the month, the number of jobless in April rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.2%, or by 5,000 to 2,300,000, compared with a decline of 20,000 in March. Because the ILO calculation excludes anybody who worked during the month, its measurement base is smaller than the base used by the Labor Ministry.
