Tokyo, May 29 (BridgeNews) - Average consumer spending by Japanese salaried households totaled 347,882 yen in April, down 4.4% in real terms on year, showing the first drop since November 2000, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said. The figure is worse than economists' average outlook of a 3.3% fall. The ministry also said seasonally adjusted household spending for April was down 1.3% on month.
