29 May 2001, 09:45 Japan's April industrial output falls adjusted 1.7% on month
Tokyo, May 29 (BridgeNews) - Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial
and mining production fell 1.7% in April from March to 100.0 (1995=100),
worse than the 0.8% drop projected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and
Industry (METI).
METI said capital goods shipment, a coincident index of private capital
investment, fell a sharp 5.2% on the month in April. METI's survey shows
output is expected to have risen 0.3% in May and will decrease 0.8% in
June.
