28 May 2001, 10:32  Dow, Nasdaq end lower in slow trade

New York, May 25 (BridgeNews) - U.S. stocks finished mildly lower on the year's lowest volume on the New York Stock Exchange, as traders didn't want to make major bets ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend. Weaker-than-expected economic data also put a crimp on equities. The S&P 500 closed off 15.27, or 1.18%, to 1277.90. Nasdaq fell 30.96, or 1.36%, to 2251.06. The Dow lost 117.05, or 1.05%, to 11,005.37.
