28 May 2001, 10:31 European stocks lower on utility companies, Wall Street decline
London, May 25 (BridgeNews) - European stock markets fell as a number
of major utility companies slipped lower and weaker-than-expected U.S.
growth put pressure on Wall Street in early trading. Activity was subdued
throughout the day, after Thursday's holiday in several countries and
before a 3-day weekend in the U.K. and the U.S. At 1550 GMT, the FTSE
Eurotop 100 Index was down 19 points, or 0.6%, at 3355 points.
