TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - The Tokyo-area May consumer price index rose 0.3 pct month-on-month after rising by the same amount in April, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said. Year-on-year, May CPI declined 0.6 pct following a 0.8 pct decline in the previous month, it said. Excluding prices of fresh food, Tokyo-area prices in May rose 0.2 pct after rising by 0.4 pct in April. The core CPI fell 0.9 pct year-on-year following a 0.9 pct decline in April.
