24 May 2001, 10:21  Japan's MOF Shiokawa says extra budget may be needed

Tokyo, May 24 (BridgeNews) - Despite Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's conservative stance on fiscal stimulus, Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa said the government will spend budgeted funds as quickly as possible. Shiokawa also said that an extra budget may be needed for further economic stimulus later in fiscal 2001 (April-March), but added he isn't considering an extra budget at this time.
