Dow ended the session with losses of about 81 points as a late session slide took the index to its worst levels of the session. Nasdaq was able to cling to modest gains, it had been modestly in the black most of the session, to close up by about 8 points. Losses in IBM, GE, Citigroup, J&J, ATT and Intel offset gains in blue chips Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Exxon-Mobil. Over on the Nasdaq, gains were seen in Yahoo!, Voicestream Wireless, Worldcom and Microsoft. S&P 500 ended off by 3.50 points.
