Tokyo, May 17 (BridgeNews) - Japanese shares strengthened in the morning following the U.S. rally overnight, but ended the session well off their highs as futures-led selling trimmed earlier gains amid thin trading. The Nikkei closed the morning up 56.88 points, or 0.4%, at 13,751.15, after having surged to 13,975.12.
