17 May 2001, 09:55  European stocks end mixed amid muted reaction to US rate cut

London, May 16 (BridgeNews) - Europe's major equity markets had a mixed performance due to a lack of corporate news and a muted reaction from markets on both sides of the Atlantic to the 50-basis-point cut in U.S. interest rates on Tuesday, which had been expected. The U.K.'s FTSE-100 index closed up 41.1 points at 5,884 and Germany's Xetra DAX-30 was up 14 points at 6,084.
