16 May 2001, 10:28 US stocks end flat despite Fed rate cut
New York, May 15 (BridgeNews) - U.S. stocks ended almost unchanged
even though the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by half a percentage
point and left the door open for further cuts down the road. Analysts said
the news had been built into share prices and that the economic weakness,
prevalent before the rate cut, still exists. The Nasdaq closed up 3.80, or
0.18%, to 2085.72.
The Dow was down 4.36, or 0.04%, to 10,872.97 and the S&P 500 was up 0.51,
or 0.04%, to 1249.43.
