11 May 2001, 15:53 OUTLOOK: UK Apr RPI up 0.5 pct yr-on-yr; RPI-X up 0.6; RPI-Y up 0.5
LONDON (AFX) - Headline UK retail prices (RPI) are expected to have
risen an adjusted 0.5 pct from March and 1.8 pct year-on-year,
according to the median of 18 analysts' forecasts compiled by AFX News.
April RPI was up an adjusted 0.6 pct month-on-month and was 1.8 pct
higher year-on-year.
Underlying inflation, RPI excluding mortgage interest payments
(RPI-X), is forecast to have risen 0.6 pct month-on-month for a 1.8 pct
increase, following a 0.4 pct monthly rise and 1.9 pct annual increase
in March.
RPI-Y, which also excludes indirect taxes and excise duties, is
expected to have risen 0.5 pct month-on-month for a 2.0 pct annual
increase.
April RPI-Y rose 0.6 month-on-month and 1.8 pct year-on-year the
previous month.
Month retail price data are released on Tuesday May 15th.
