TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Domestic wholesale prices in April were down 0.1 pct month-on-month after falling 0.1 in March, the Bank of Japan said. The Bank provided the following April data, compared with the previous month:
Domestic WPI - down 0.1 pct mth-on-mth vs down 0.1
- down 0.7 pct yr-on-yr vs down 0.5
Export WPI - up 0.6 pct mth-on-mth vs up 2.4 pct
- up 6.6 pct yr-on-yr vs up 4.9 pct
Import WPI - up 1.2 pct mth-on-mth vs up 3.7 pct
- up 12.4 pct yr-on-yr vs up 10.0 pct
Earlier, an AFX survey of economists forecast April domestic WPI would come in at between a fall of 0.4 and 0.7 pct year-on-year, with a consensus of a fall of 0.6 pct.
Month-on-month, they forecast domestic WPI would come in at between a fall of 0.1 pct and flat, with a consensus that prices would be unchanged.
