3 April 2001, 17:36  German growth forecast reportedly cut to 2.1 pct by economic institutes

FRANKFURT (AFX) - Six leading economic research institutes, scheduled to publish their spring report next week, are cutting their growth forecast for Germany this year to 2.1 pct, the Financial Times Deutschland reported. Previously, the six institutes, whose regular spring and autumn reports are closely watched by the markets, had forecast growth of 2.7 pct for Germany this year. FT Deutschland said that the institutes were assuming growth of "a good 2.0 percent" in their consultations for the spring report, scheduled to be completed on Thursday and published next Tuesday.
