New York, April 27 (BridgeNews) - U.S. consumer attitudes on the economy were generally improved in early April compared with the early April readings released on April 12, according to analysts familiar with the private survey released Friday by the University of Michigan.
* * * According to the survey, the reading on April consumer sentiment was 88.4, compared with 87.8 in early April, 91.5 in March and 90.6 in February.
The current economic conditions index was pegged at 98.0, compared with 98.7 in early April, 103.4 in March and 105.8 in February. The consumer expectations index came in at 82.2, compared with 80.8 in early April, 83.9 in March and 80.8 in February.
The University's consumer expectations index is used by the Conference Board in its monthly leading economic indicators report.
The survey of US households used for the index began in 1946. The February 1966 consumer expectations index stood at 100.0. End
