NEW YORK, April 24 - The U.S. ConsumerConfidence Index fell in April to a 109.2 reading from adownwardly revised reading of 116.9 in March, the ConferenceBoard reported on Tuesday. March's index was previouslyreported at 117.0. The private research group's closely watchedexpectations index also fell to 78.2 in April from an downwardlyrevised 83.1 in March. Economists polled by on averagehad forecast the index would fall to 112.0 in April.
