London, April 23 (BridgeNews) - Seasonally adjusted U.K. M4 broad money supply grew slightly faster than forecast in March, rising a provisional monthly 0.7% and an annual 8.4%, the Bank of England said Monday. Adjusted M4 bank lending increased by 8.9 billion sterling. Forecasts were for a 0.5% monthly and an 8.3% annual rise in M4.
* * * The March data revealed signs of broad money growth slowing. The year-on-year growth rate was below the revised 9.4% recorded in February, originally reported as 9.0%, and down on January's 9.7%.
The 8.9-billion-sterling rise in M4 lending was, however, well up on the revised 6.8 billion growth recorded in February, originally reported as 6.4 billion. March M4 lending would have been 1.5 billion higher still if it had not been for the results of a securitization, the Bank of England said.
The following tables give provisional U.K. M4 monetary statistics for March. All data are month-on-month and seasonally adjusted. Data from the previous month are in brackets. An r indicates a revision.

March
Month-on-month 0.7 (0.3)
3 months annualized 9.5 (9.1r)
6 months annualized 7.5 (6.7r)
Year-on-year 8.4 (9.4r)

M4 measures all bank and building society deposits together with notes and coins in circulation and certificates of deposit. M0 meanwhile refers to UK notes and coins in circulation and banks' deposits with the Bank of England.
