23 April 2001, 10:39  Italy Press : IMF cuts world , U.S. , EMU 2001 GDP forecast

ROME (MktNews) - The International Monetary Fund's (IMF's) latest forecasts, to be officially published April 26, will show marked downward revisions to this year's GDP growth projections for all the main areas of the world, according to Italian newspaper reports published Sunday.
According to leaked forecasts to feature in the World Economic Outlook, as published Sunday in the financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore, world growth this year is now seen by the IMF at 3.2%, compared with a forecast of 4.2% made in September 2000.
U.S. growth is revised down to 1.5% from 3.2%; eurozone growth is revised down to 2.4% from 3.4% and Japanese growth is lowered to 0.6% from 1.8%.
