2 April 2001, 15:47  OUTLOOK: BoE seen cutting rates to 5.50 pct on April 5

LONDON (AFX) - The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee is expected to cut its repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50 pct on April 5, with 15 out of 22 economists surveyed by AFX News looking for rates to be cut. All of the remaining seven expect the repo rate to be held. According to the median estimate of those polled, the chance of the key rate remaining at 5.75 pct is put at 45 pct.
