FRANKFURT (MktNews) - Raw steel output in Germany totalled 3.76 million metric tons in February, unchanged from the level a year ago, according to preliminary data released Friday by the Federal Statistics Office.
Raw iron output totaled 2.48 million metric tons in February, a decrease of 2.2% compared to the previous year.
In the first two months of 2001, raw steel production was up 4.3% while raw iron output was up 1.8%.
In west Germany, raw steel output was 3.28 million metric tons in February, up 0.2% on the year. Year-to-date output was up 4.0% y/y.
In east Germany, raw steel output fell 1.2% to 0.48 million metric tons in February compared to a year ago. January-February output was up 6.0% compared to the same period last year.
