7 March 2001, 16:13 Japan Feb 1-20 trade surplus down 33% on year to 507.7 bln yen
Tokyo, March 7 (BridgeNews) - Japan's trade surplus fell 33.0% to
507.71 billion yen ($4.27 billion) on a customs-cleared basis in the first
20 days of February from a surplus of 757.89 billion yen a year earlier,
the Ministry of Finance said. The data indicate the surplus is continuing
to decline due mainly to sluggishness in overseas economies.
