5 March 2001, 10:55  US STOCKS STABLE TO LOWER BY END OF THE DAY

U.S. share prices ended steady to lower Friday, pressured by an earnings warning from Oracle but supported by bargain hunting. The Nasdaq composite ended down 65.74 points at 2,117.63. Benefitting from defensive rotation, non-technology weighted indexes performed better. The Dow was up 16.17 to 10,466.31 while the S&P 500 was down 7.18 -- 0.58% -- at 1,234.05.
