Spain 2000 Average Monthly Salary Increase 2.3% y/y
FRANKFURT (MktNews) - Spanish monthly average wages rose 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2000 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, up from the 2.4% y/y rise posted in the third quarter, the Spanish the Spanish National Statistics Agency INE reported Tuesday.
For 2000 as a whole, total monthly average wages rose 2.3% over 1999, with industrial sector wages up 2.5%, construction sector wages up 3.8% and service sector wages up 3.0%.
In the fourth quarter, the largest increase in wages was recorded in the construction sector, up 4.4% y/y compared to the 3.4% y/y rate in the previous quarter.
Wages in the industrial sector rose 2.3% in the fourth quarter down from 2.9% y/y in the third quarter.
Monthly wages in the services sector rose 2.9% y/y in the fourth quarter, down from 3.0% y/y in the third quarter, according to INE.
