Total U.S. electricity output was 65,129 million gigawatt-hours
in the week ended March 24, up 3.0% from the year-ago week and down 1.2%
from the previous week, the Edison Electric Institute reported. Output
was 63,234 million gigawatt-hours in the week ended March 25, 2000. The
output estimate is based on a survey of approximately 100 utilities in
every state except Alaska and Hawaii.
