3.9% fall compared with December, the Bundesbank said Wednesday. Foreign

January western German orders were revised to a 3.0% decline from the
previously reported 3.5% decline, while eastern German January orders were
revised to a 5.8% decrease from hefty 9.3% drop.
Original data showed a sharper-than-expected decline in orders, with
the finance ministry noting that demand in the industrial sector had
"clearly declined." However, analysts warned that the sharp fall in orders
should not be over-interpreted since demand in December was especially
lively.
German January pre-production goods and durable and non-durable goods
orders were both revised upwards, while capital goods orders were revised
downwards.
The revised January orders index for Germany is 127.7 from the
provisional 126.7. The December index was also revised to 131.7 from
131.9.
The western German index for January was revised to 125.7 from the
previously reported 125.0. The December figure was left unrevised at
129.6.
The eastern German January index was revised to 159.5, from the
provisionally reported 156.3. The December index was revised to 169.4 from
172.4, the Bundesbank said.
