The seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell in January to 9.9%from 10.0% in October, official data showed. This was thelowest reading since January 1993. The total number ofunemployed was 2.354 mln, down 1.1% from October. Newjobs rose 0.4% or 80,000. In 2000, the average joblessrate was 10.6%, down from 11.4% in 1999.
