PARIS (MktNews) - French housing permits issued in the three months through February were up 4.3% from the previous-year period, according to non-seasonally adjusted data released Tuesday by the Construction Ministry.
Housing starts in December-February were up 5.1% from previous-year levels, the ministry said.
There were 29,070 new housing permits issued in February. For the three months through February the total was 89,945. For the 12 months through February, the total was 362,387, a rise of 9.7% from the previous-year period.
Measured in surface area, December-February housing permits were up 2.4% from the previous-year period. The 12-month comparison showed a rise of 7.7%.
Housing starts totaled 24,138 in February. For the three months through February the total was 76,020. For the 12 months through February, the total was 309,247, a rise of just 0.1% from the previous-year period.
Measured in surface area, December-February housing starts were up 1.2% on the year. The 12-month comparison showed a gain of 3.2%.
Non-residential construction permits issued in the three months through February, measured in square meters, were up 10.8% on the year. For the 12 months through February there was a year-on-year rise of 9.8%.
Non-residential construction starts in the three months through February, again measured in square meters, rose 12.3% on the year. For the 12 months through February there was a gain of 14.1%.
