23 March 2001, 10:01 Dow escapes bear's claws, Nasdaq ends up over 3%
New York, March 22 (BridgeNews) - A late rally spearheaded by
technology stocks helped the Dow Jones industrial average escape from the
bear market in heavy trading. The Nasdaq erased its earlier 36-point loss
to break a two-day slide. The Dow slipped 97.52, or 1.03%, to 9389.48 and
the Nasdaq bounced back 67.48, or 3.69%, to 1897.71. The S&P 500 fell
4.56, or 0.41%, to 1117.58.
