19 March 2001, 12:53 President Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori
President Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori are
expected to discuss Japan's ongoing economic problems when they meet for
a working lunch Monday, the White House said Friday. "I expect the
leaders will discuss economic challenges and opportunities that we
face," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters during the
regular press briefing. "It is in our interest that Japan be
economically strong and prosperous," he said, ducking a question about
whether the two leaders would specifically address the dollar-yen
exchange rate.
