19 March 2001, 10:58  UK combined oil and gas output in January rose

LONDON (MktNews) - UK combined oil and gas output in January rose 3.7% on the month, its highest level since April 2000, but fell 7.0% on the year, the Royal Bank of Scotland said in its oil and gas report published Monday. The bank's oil and gas index rose in January to 203.7 from 196.6 in December. In January 2000 the index stood at 219.1. Oil output fell in January by 124,000 on the month, or 5.2%, to 2,274,671 barrels per day. The oil index fell to 138.1 in January from 145.7 in December. Average daily output in the 12 months to January was 9.2% less than in the 12 months to January 2000. Gas output in January reached its highest level since December 1999, rising 14.2% on the month, or 13,061 million cubic feet per day. Gas output was 1.1% higher compared with January 2000. The gas index rose to 384.3 in January from 336.5 in December. Average daily output in the year to January was up 8.7% on the year. Daily revenues from oil production fell by 7.8% on the month and 4.1% on the year to an average of Stg39.7 mln per day. Gas revenues rose 14.2% on the month, but fell 4.8% on the year.
