PARIS (AFX) - The French economy is solid in spite of the weakness of world stock markets said French finance minister Laurent Fabius on France 2 television.
"The American stock markets are in a bad way and that is affecting all the stock markets in the world, but as far as it concerns the French economy, it remains solid," he said.
"In Europe it is France which is in the best position. We have a strong growth rate, consumption which remians strong, a good investment strategy and we are continuing to cut unemployment," he said.
"But we are not sheltered from what happens outside," he added.
