European Central Bank Governing Council memberand Bundesbank President Ernst Welteke said in aweekend press interview that inflationary pressures inthe eurozone have eased a little, but upward threatsremain and it is thus too soon to cut official interestrates. "In February, eurozone HICP rose 2.6% y/y after2.2% y/y the previous month," he said. "That is why itwould be premature for interest rates to move in theother direction."
