12 March 2001, 17:11 UK POLL: MOST VOTERS WANT LABOUR BACK IN MAY
UK voters want a general election to go ahead sooner rather than later, despite the
foot-and-mouth crisis, and are backing Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair
for a second term in office, according to an ICM opinion poll for BBC
News Online. Some 47% back Blair versus 14% who back opposition
Conservative William Hague. Some 63% of those polled want the election
to be held on May 3.
