12 March 2001, 15:39 GERMAN BANK SURVEY: EUROZONE, GERMAN GROWTH TO SLOW
The chief economists of the 10 leading German banks forecast eurozone growth
would slow this year to 2.6% from 3.4% in 2000 and German growth would
slow to 2.2% from 3.0% last year. A majority of them also believe the
ECB will cut official interest rates "modestly" in Q2 and the euro to
rise to parity with the dollar by the end of the year.
