LONDON (AFX) - UK housing starts fell 9 pct on a seasonally-adjusted basis in the three months to December when compared with the previous 3 months, while total completions in the same period were up 7 pct, according to figures released by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions.
Housing starts totalled 34,600 in the latest three months while completions numbered 44,300.
Housing starts in the latest month stood at 9,100, compared with 9,900 in December 1999, while completions fell to 14,200 from 14,700 the previous year, according to provisional estimates.
