8 February 2001, 11:02  Japan Dec real spending by all households up 2.1% on year

Tokyo--Feb. 8--Unadjusted real spending by all households in Japan rose 2.1% on the year in December, while seasonally adjusted real spending by all households in December rose 1.6% from the previous month, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said Thursday.
The ministry also said real spending by non-wage earning Japanese households gained 5.5% on the year in December. The adjusted spending in October-December was up 0.2% on the quarter, suggesting that personal consumption in Japan's gross domestic product (GDP) for the period will rise on the quarter.
