28 February 2001, 17:05 Japan's industrial output down adjusted 3.9% on month in January
Tokyo--Feb. 28--Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial and mining
production fell 3.9% in January from December to an index figure of 103.2,
worse than the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's projection of a
0.7% rise, the ministry announced. The fall was worse than private
economists' average forecast of a 0.1% drop. The survey showed output is
expected to have risen 2.7% in February and to decrease 1.4% in March.
