27 February 2001, 17:35 Japan's Miyazawa willing to mull fiscal steps after budget passes
Tokyo--Feb. 27--Finance Minister Kiichi Miyazawa said he is willing to
consider further economic measures, including fiscal stimulus after
parliament passes the fiscal 2001 budget. It is the first time in his
two-year tenure as finance minister that Miyazawa has discussed economic
steps before the budget is passed, suggesting he is concerned about the
outlook for the economy as well as the ruling coalition government's
performance in the upper house elections in mid-2001.
