15 February 2001, 18:15 German Jan HICP on new components up 2.2 pct yr-yr; up 0.3 pct from Dec
WIESBADEN, Germany (AFX) - The German harmonised index of consumer
prices (HICP), including additional components for the first time, was
2.2 pct higher year on year and rose 0.3 pct from December, the federal
statistics office said.
It said that these figures represent the first time that additional
goods and services in health and social sectors have been included in
German HICP, which is used by Eurostat to calculate HICP for the whole
euro zone.
It said that the the new methods bring true harmonised HICP
statistics for the euro zone a step closer.
Euro zone Jan HICP is due to be published on 28 Feb.
It said that in future German HICP will be published alongside
German CPI (consumer price index).
