--Richmond Fed Jan retail revenues index -55 vs -17 in Dec

New York--Feb. 13--Service sector activity in the Richmond Federal Reserve district slowed dramatically in January due to a steep drop in big-ticket sales during the month as well as revenues falling in the non-retail sector, the Richmond Fed said Tuesday. The overall service sector revenue index, which includes retail activity, fell to -22 from -14 in December. The retail revenues index fell to -55 from -17 in December.

Big-ticket sales fell, with that index slipping to -68 in January from -37 in December. The shopper traffic index also fell, dropping to -32 in January from -29 in December.
