13 February 2001, 13:29 US stocks end higher, rebounding after recent weakness
New York--Feb. 12--The Dow Jones industrial average snapped a four-day
losing streak and the Nasdaq rebounded after a 7% decline last week.
Traders said some investors were anticipating a bullish speech from Fed
Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Tuesday, although worries about
corporate earnings capped the gains, especially in the technology sector.
The Nasdaq closed up 18.70, or 0.76%, to 2489.67 and the Dow was up
165.32, or 1.53%, to 10,946.77.
The S&P 500 was up 15.55, or 1.18%, to 1330.31.
