NEW YORK (MktNews) - December U.S. machine tool consumption totaled an estimated $514 million, up 21.7% from the previous month but down 4.9% when compared with the same month a year ago, according to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. The revised November machine tool consumption was $422 million. Meanwhile, the year total rose only 0.8% in 2000 over the previous year for $5.9 billion.
